Flowers and Plant Care
Keeping your flowers and plants fresh and vibrant shouldn’t be a hassle. With the right care, you can enjoy their beauty for much longer! If you ever need more advice, the City Blossoms team is just a call away.
Orchid Care
To care for an orchid, place it in bright, indirect sunlight, to prevent leaf scorch. You can water using submersion, ice cubes, or by pouring water at the base. Use about 2 oz for a double orchid, 3 oz for a triple orchid, and so on. Aim to water every 7-11 days, depending on the environment and avoid overwater. Orchids thrive in humidity, so mist the leaves with distilled or lukewarm water. After blooming, trim any unhealthy stems and leaves to encourage new growth. With proper care, your orchid will bloom beautifully.
Snake Plant Care
Snake plants thrive in bright, indirect light but adapt well to various lighting conditions. Water weekly, letting the soil dry completely between watering. In summer, water when the top inch of soil is dry.
These drought-tolerant plants prefer not to be overwatered, so ensure proper drainage to avoid root rot. Low-maintenance and resilient, snake plants are ideal for beginners and will flourish with minimal care.

Succulent Care
Succulents are low-maintenance plants that require very little water. To avoid overwatering, give them about 1oz of water every 10-14 days. Be mindful that during their dormant phase, usually in the cooler months, succulents don’t need as much water because they aren’t actively growing.
Check for shriveling leaves to determine if your plant needs more water. If the older, lower leaves are shriveling, it's completely normal. However, if the newer, topmost leaves are shriveling, it could indicate that your succulent is thirsty and needs more water.
Watering Care
Bouquets & Floral Arrangements
For fresh bouquets and floral arrangements, it’s important to keep the cut stems hydrated to ensure they last longer. Immediately place the flowers in water once they’re brought home. Make sure the stems are fully submerged in water, but avoid overfilling the vase, as it can cause the stems to rot.
Change the water every 2-3 days to keep it clean and free from bacteria. Before re-watering, trim the stems at a slight angle to allow for better water absorption. If you're adding floral preservatives, follow the package instructions for the best results.
To help your flowers stay fresh, keep your arrangement in a cool spot, away from direct sunlight, heat, or drafts. This will help your flowers thrive and stay vibrant for as long as possible.
Keep Your Blossoms Fresh:
Remove Wilting Flowers
To ensure your City Blossoms arrangement stays vibrant, regularly inspect it for any wilting or dead flowers. Removing these helps prevent bacteria from spreading and keeps the rest of your blooms healthy. Be sure to clear any foliage from the water as well—decaying leaves can lead to faster flower deterioration and cloudy, smelly water. By keeping the water free from debris, your arrangement will stay clearer and fresher for longer, maintaining that beautiful, fresh-picked look.
Fruit-Free Zone
For the longest-lasting blooms, keep your City Blossoms arrangement away from fruit. As fruit ripens, it releases ethylene gas, which accelerates the wilting of flowers and shortens their life. This will ensure your flowers can thrive without the influence of this natural gas, allowing you to enjoy their beauty for as long as possible.
